StarPower Performing Arts is a triple threat performing arts school. We train students in areas of dance, voice, acting, musical theatre & performance training. We are locally owned and operated & our staff is quality trained & educated in the arts. 
We offer recreational classes for the part time dancer & or singer while also offering full time commitment classes such as our performing and competition touring team called "The Stars Company". 
We offer competitive prices with top quality training and a family atmosphere. Let us be your muse and inspire you to reach for the stars!


Deanna Duke, Owner/ Founder: 
Deanna started StarPower in 2001 after teaching out of her home for numerous years as well as at another studio. Deannas vocal techniques have since been published nationally. She is a graduate of the Weist-Barron School of TV New York & the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Hollywood. She attended the Alabama School of Fine Arts where she studied Music while performing with Summerfest. She studied dance for 15 years and danced with the Alabama Ballet. She holds degrees in Psychology, Fine Arts & Metaphysics. Deanna began in the arts at age 3 & has appeared in several films. Her mother was a theatre professor & casting agent. She is a member of many national arts associations and was named one of 2001 & 2011's "Who's Who In Professional & Business Women" and 2001 & 2004 "Personality of The Year" for Music, all national rankings. Deanna became licensed in (SLS) Speech Level Singing & Speech Therapy for Singers. Her students have won numerous national awards & scholarships, received recording contracts, & landed professional gigs as well as being finalists on The Voice & in many Broadway tour companies. Deanna also teaches voice in Nashville & New Orleans, was an Entertainment Rep for Artist Arena & continues being in the forefront as a tour guide in New Orleans where she is also a marketing rep for Nola Sports & has her Ministers License. She & Ken have been married for over 30 years & have a daughter, Alyssa, a son, Adam,  & 4 grandchildren.
Alyssa Duke-Bennefield, Company Choreographer/ Dance Master / 2nd Director in Charge: 
Alyssa is our Company 2nd Director at StarPower as well as our Comapny Choreograpehr and teaches Ballet, Contemporary, Leaps and Turns and Jazz for us. She is a graduate of the University of Florida. She choreographs & teaches for many studios in Alabama, Georgia & Florida. She held National titles, won many scholarships & was Captain of the American Dance Team which took the 2010 World Cup of Dance in Spain. Alyssa has won many choreography awards &  was named one of 2000's "Who's Who in Professional & Business Women" (the youngest recipient ever). She has studied at Broadway Dance Center & STEPS in NYC and has worked with many professional choreographers. She made her Broadway debut in 2004 at age 15, performing with Ricky Martin, Nathan Lane & Mathew Broderick. Alyssa is a Rookie on the Atlanta Hawks Cheerleading Dance Team. She & husband Brandon have 1 son.
Christon Burnette, Dance Master: 
Besides being an incredible dancer, Christion was an elite level 5 cheerleader. His talents have given countless opportunities. As a competitive dancer he won many awards and nothing below a Platinum. In 2015 he won the title of Mr StarMake. At 19, he started an apprecticeship at a dance company where he was an instructor where he also learned how to run a dance studio. He is an award winning choreographer. He trained under Shannon Darby, Stephsnie Genard, Starr Gaither and a number of world renowned choreographers and teachers making him a well rounded dancers and teacher. Trained in Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical, clogging and specializes in Contemporary, Jazz and acrobatics which he teaches all of at StarPower. 
Kaylyn Busenlehner, Clogging / Tap /
Hip Hop
Kaylyn has studied dance with Miss Beverly's & was a dance partner of Michael Swader before joining StarPower as a student and then eventually a teacher. Kaylyn had her work cut out for her by taking over StarPowers nationally ranked Clogging & Tap teams but she did it with ease. Her clogging, tap & hip hop teams are now regional and national champions. Kaylyn's infectious personality combined with her top notch skills make her a very in demand teacher.  
Melanie Thompson, Voice Instructor
Melanie has a Masters Dgree in Secondary Education with an undergraduate in Music, business & criminal justice. She has performed in theatre productions, pageants, ballgames, venues, churches and stages all over the Southeast.  SHe has taught and mentored teens and adukts in all areas of performance including vocal ,theatre, public speaking and stage presence. She is a sought after vocal coach and musical theatre guru. She currently sings with her family, a Southern Gospel group. She focuses on tight harmonies to Spread the Gospel and love of music
Lacey Duke, Voice Instructor
Lacey began as a student with Ms Deanna in 1999 before StarPower even opened. She spent years as a vocal student and on our song & Dance team. Getting her vocal teaching license at age 19, Lacey went full time teaching with StarPower and never looked back. Since then her students have won countless vocal scholarships, recording contracts and national championships. Lacey returned to us after a two year hiatus bringing back the Lacey style.  
Amy Solomonik, Voice Instructor
Amy has a Masters Degree in Education & was a music teacher at the American Christian International Academy in Cascais, Lisbon as well as having led children’s choirs in churches. She, herself sang in music groups for years. She combines her experience & love of teaching music to bring StarPower their most advanced harmonies to date. Amy & her husband have 3 children.    
Heather Cameron, Dance
Heather has called our studios home for 16 years. She has worked with some of the biggest names in the business including Wade Robson, Doug Caldwell, Mandy Moore, Nick Drago & Marty Dew. Heather & choreographer Alyssa Duke-Bennefield were competition duet partners from 2001-2008 where they were Platinum scoring state & national champions. Heather is versed in ballet, tap, jazz & lyrical. She has danced in New York & Las Vegas.  She & her husband Kyle have 2 daughters.
